Alaska Housewares

Anchorage based wholesaler, Alaska Housewares, is a midsized distributor offering everything from school supplies to home electronic products.  Their diverse inventory selection and solid reputation has helped them negotiate huge contracts with massive retailers such as Wal-Mart and Safeway as well as deals with many smaller retail outlets throughout Alaska. 

Over the years Alaska Housewares has been forced to reevaluate their warehouse processes in order to cut costs.  Like many distributors, they were challenged by productivity, outdated picking and shipping processes, and limited inventory visibility; costly inefficiencies which ultimately sparked their decision to automate the warehouse.

VP of Operations, Scott Emery, can remember shopping and researching warehouse management systems for nearly 7 years before making the decision to purchase Latitude.  By this time he was an expert in the field of warehouse automation; understanding how a WMS should work, what it should do, and the benefits it could deliver. As you can imagine he was very excited to install an automated solution within his own facility.  When asked why Alaska Housewares decided to purchase Latitude, Scott offered three reasons:
